Yes! So many people hear these messages as "What, you're advocating returning to the Stone Age and giving up on tens of thousands of years of progress" but you're clearly explaining what the similarities and differences are. You and Tom are advocating moving forward (and learning from past trends), not moving backward.

Thanks for this clear and inspiring look forward, George.

Thanks for stopping by. I agree that it can be information overload. Because besides all the ways we can connect socially, real live also happens which makes it all the more difficult to make the truly meaningful connections. But I think the meaningful ones are "meant to be" somehow and have a way of filtering thru the noise. Or maybe I'm naive ;)

Haven't we all said, "Gosh, I'd love to know somebody who...."? Twitter is tool to find those people. When we visit a stranger's blog or website we can see his or her passions, sense attitude and perspective, identify areas of expertise. We can both learn something from this "expert" and make an emotional "connection." And, as you pointed out, we can get more local and more global at the same time. The biggest challenge, I suspect, will be handling the overload and making choices. One of the folks I met on the Twitter Innovations Group quickly set up her own small "invitation only" group as a way of connecting people that she filtered through her own perception as being "those to know." I expect we'll see a lot more of this. A wonderful conversation, George. Thank you!

Thanks for the comment Chris. Yes, I love following Tapscott, Yochai Benkler and Clay Shirky. I especially like this one from Yochai Benkler:

Hey George. I agree with Annemarie, you definitely have captured the pulse of the connected world, the global economy, and Friedman in general. How about Tapscott and the 'wikinomics' crowd? We seem to be of like mind, perhaps we could talk further. Meantime, I love your blog insights, and your extremely cool graphics too !! No fair having all this talent locked up in one place !!

Wow! you have more "cognitive resonance" than Susan Boyle has vocal ability! I hope tens of millions of people see and read your comments...I believe it is Tom Friedman's vision also of a flat world, a crowded and hot planet..and time for massive adaptation.
No idea of how this transformation will change the end results..but I'm glad I'm on the ride.
We now have the strategy to bring profitable home businesses for everyone that wants one...a redistribution of wealth via internet and network marketing principles done correctly.
