An interesting observation George. I like how you analyze it and keep it to the point. Do you think that we've somehow been here before? From what I've seen and read about Egyptian technology, well I can't really call it technology, but when Egyptians, Mayans, Asians, when they were on the verge of a technological break through they seemed to stop and disappear. You know what I mean? Or do I sound like some sort of weird hippie?

Great article, George! Glad I found you on Twitter. I've not yet read Friedman's book but it keeps coming up from various people, so I suppose I should get to it soon.

[...] I remember my former boss reading The World is Flat and talking about it with our staff. That was several years ago and was relevant then (before the Web 2.0 revolution, or evolution); who could have imagined that in just a few short years we would be here? On LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, et al. I couldn’t have said it better myself, so I’m just going to share with you what George Benckenstein wrote in a blog titled “Welcome to our Flat World”. Below is an excerpt; click here to read the full article >> [...]

Yes! So many people hear these messages as "What, you're advocating returning to the Stone Age and giving up on tens of thousands of years of progress" but you're clearly explaining what the similarities and differences are. You and Tom are advocating moving forward (and learning from past trends), not moving backward.

Thanks for this clear and inspiring look forward, George.

Thanks for stopping by. I agree that it can be information overload. Because besides all the ways we can connect socially, real live also happens which makes it all the more difficult to make the truly meaningful connections. But I think the meaningful ones are "meant to be" somehow and have a way of filtering thru the noise. Or maybe I'm naive ;)
